God is our Father

For The Men:

Today a lot of us may call God our Father, and we have simply given him this title out of a genuine reverence, but I wish that all would take that a step further and consider what this also implies, that you are God's son, and he in fact calls you that, "my son". That God, addresses by what he sees you as in Christ, "his son".

1 John 3:1 says "see what kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God, and so we are" !!!!

Wow, what powerful implications, what deep convictions, I hope that not only make us realize our depravity before Christ but "the Glory of which we are called to- In Christ!" (1 Peter 5:10)

John further expounds the topic and says "Beloved (loved by God), we are God's children now.....and we know that....we shall be like him."

Paul says in Romans the exact same thing! "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also he glorified with him." and also "all who are led by the spirit of God are "sons" of God." And we have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry "Abba! Father!"

And Paul to the Galatians says "for in Christ you are all sons of God, through faith"

Now since we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and we also believe the word of God, that testifies that Jesus "is not ashamed of calling us brothers"

we as men need to likewise realize that God calls us by the title he sees us as "my son". What a affectionate and loving title, one that also speaks of the almighty as their Father, a protective father. He is a helicopter parent and is always by your side.

Psalm 82 says you are "sons of the Most high" and Jesus insists in the Gospel of John that this very passage is Scripture, and "cannot be broken"!

Therefore if the Lord cares enough for you to die in your place to then call you brother, you must live in the light of your sonship with God. This means that you are a reflector of the Glory of God, one that God remarkably, though we are unworthy, wishes to enjoy eternity with. Jesus the eternal, omnipotent Creator of the universe loves us so much, he even calls us his friends. That we are his friend! Did you ever stop and think that God says you are his friend? Today you should, yes today you should think about your actions! Today you should reflect more of God's glory you have received in Jesus.

John in compassion for his brothers declares "Little children [of God], let no one deceive you....whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God......no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. "

So today God is telling every single one of us:

"My son, I want your path to be correct before me.."

and today we want our path to be correct before our Father, and we have the helper, counselor, comforter, advocate, guide, intercessor, and teacher, which is the Spirit of God actively giving us a grace empowered LIFE. For before being enlightened (by the light of Christ), we were dead in our sins, now we have to recognize God if we claim to be of him!

I pray that tomorrow when you want to talk about school, sports, politics or world news, gossip about friends or family, we remember our true friend Jesus and our true Father wishes that our ways be correct before him.
