7 “Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? 8 Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’”
(Luke 17:7-10, ESV)
Paul worked and gave generously from the fruits of his labor. In the same way we should give generously to the people we are serving. In that way we can show our true Christianity, and win hearts and minds. Not through collecting tithes, but by working hard and tithing. So in essence I can serve the church more through helping people get their lives together by fitting them with work and, freeing them from evil, through prayer and counsel. When missionary work arises I must also work hard for Christ, by not only financial support but also by physically participating and helping. In this way I will not become like the pharisees and the teachers of law. This is how I can show the glory of God to everyone and bring God praise. This is how I can strive to win, and to run in a manner to win the race. God will show his miraculous power if I humble myself to a servant and literally become a servant. Not in ritual washing of feet but in literal focused conflict resolution of God's lost sheep.
The pretentious one will try to make you fail by means of attempting to cause financial failure, by swaying minds around you, will attempt to increase mental pressure on you through anxiety. Will attempt guilt you into feeling unworthy of Christ’s love. Will try to embarrass and persecute you, and finally will attempt to kill you. God gives life through his son, your old self is already dead and no one can take away you new life in Christ. The father will fill you with tools and assets necessary and fill you up to your capabilities, and he already has through the Holy Spirit.
