These stumbling blocks are very deceptive, they are not obvious or easy to discern, instead they require us to use the maximum discernment we have possible so that we could grow closer to the one who has called us to share in his glory. The stumbling blocks that I have seen have devastatingly parasitic effects to spiritual growth on those who place their faith in them.
Brothers here is how you can tell if you are under the bondage of one of these stumbling blocks for their are many and they are diverse so you must ask God to reveal them to you so that you may overcome and conquer and not be proud of a false faith.
You are denying something in your life that could very well possibly be true and good but it seems dangerous and you have heard whispers that this is bad and some have even sternly warned you that this is from the enemy, so you don't feel confident enough to embrace it. How do you know if this a blessing from God or a lie of the devil?
First you must make certain this something is in line with reality. That it is real and not temporary.
Second you need to ask yourself is it leading to THE JESUS OF THE BIBLE.
Third, you need to pray to God to reveal to you his truth in his mercy, you being a doubter of his truth, but have always received it by his grace.
Fourth, you need to do solitary Bible reading of relevant passages with no outside commentary so that you can here the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Remember the Holy Spirit
A. Testifies of Jesus
B. Convicts world of sin
C. Brings you to repentance
D. Is regenerating you to full stature of Jesus.
In other words you need to ask this simple question, does it lead of Jesus? The right Jesus, The true Jesus, not a false one, that disciplines and rebukes those he loves. If the answer is yes, then you need to embrace the truth and put off presuppositions or you are disobeying God and are relying on a dangerously comfortable and lukewarm faith that may very well be slowly destroying you.
Remember that Jesus is the truth, so to deny the truth is to deny Jesus. If that is not a stern enough warning Jesus says that God seeks those who worship him in spirit & in truth, that he is the truth, the way, and the life, that God's word is truth, and that he is the Word of God.
Therefore let the truth be your breastplate and you will not fear lies anymore, your faith wont be shaky because you have embraced the truth, and it has set you free! You can boldly declare to your friends without fear "this is the truth" and yell "God has shown me". So let us stop denying the one who blesses those he loves, and has blessed all believers in Christ.
The contrary is devastating, isolating, leads to pride, and a false assurance in things not true. It is simple, if you reject something that is pointing to Jesus, then you are rejecting Jesus. God tells Jeremiah that "its not you they are rejecting, they are rejecting me". The same applies to you.
The opposite would be something that fills with hopelessness.
Something that is not glorifying Jesus or pointing to him.
Something that ignores Gods words in the Bible or adjusts them to fit their view.
Something that runs toward behavior modification but doesn't deal with the heart
Something that is solely the work of man apart from the sovereign grace of God, empowering the believer.
In all matters seek the word of God for your truth, and take time to here what the Holy Spirit says to you, and don't run from it because you don't like it.
The devil wants to lie to as many believers as possible and attribute to himself what is clearly from God. What I am saying is that the devil will lie to someone and tell them something is demonic, even though its in the Bible and points to Jesus and its for the glory of God, and is beneficial to the believer. This is a huge stunt in spiritual growth, because now you cannot equip yourself with what God wants because you keep denying him on a basis of a lie that demons are holding you hostage and scarred of. Break free of those bonds by praying to Jesus, reading your Bible and asking serious questions that your loving father in heaven wants to answer.
May the grace of God be with you all.
