Here is 5 signs that says that you are in Spiritual Pride, and you need to repent, or you will DESTROY yourself.
1. New Believer. Apostle Paul says to Timothy, not to appoint New Believers to the position of elder. The Greek word, which occurs nowhere else in the New Testament, means, properly, that which is "newly planted." Thus it would mean a plant that was not strong, or not fitted to bear the severity of storms; that had not as yet struck its roots deep, and could not resist the fierceness of a cold blast.
Usually this individual believes he is strong, and is fed by the pride the devil incites in him, that he is able to do this, that he does much work for God, and he is capable. His argument is that "but the Bible says, young men, you are strong, you have overcome". What a better way for you to twist scripture, to make yourself think you are strong apart from God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. All the lies of the devil. Isaiah 40:30 says "young men will stumble and fall". Watch out young man, lest you stumble and fall!
2. Unable to accept criticism. This is a major sign of Spiritual Pride, if you cannot accept criticism, it also shows that you are under the impression that you don't need criticism, thereby think extremely highly of yourself. Thinking highly of yourself means you are PROUD. (Proverbs 9:8) "Rebuke a scoffer, and he will hate you, Rebuke a wise man and he will love you." Usually when a criticism is not taken with love, that individual is usually in pride. I say usually because there is extreme cases, but these are far less likely than others. WHAT "USUALLY" HAPPENS WHEN YOU THINK THAT THE PERSON CRITICIZING YOU HAS NO PLACE TO SPEAK. THAT'S PRIDE!
3. Discredits other believers. This individual is consumed in himself, and does not like to see other believers be appreciated or credited for being faithful to God and performing the ministry that the Holy Spirit does through them. In fact, without knowledge he is directly working against God, and attempts to demean the teaching of others.
4. Falsely receives praise from the labors of others faithful to Christ. This is also called taking credit, for the work of others. IT IS EASY TO TELL WHO IS ON FIRE FOR GOD!
IF YOU STILL LISTEN TO WORLDLY MUSIC, it is likely you haven't fully come out of the world. You should seriously consider whether you are really fit to be a leader of God's people wile you still mingle in the affairs of the God of this world....the devil. If you still think you are fit for leadership, and think you can just carry the world into the House of God's people.....you are severely mistaken. That is Spiritual Pride. You may think you are leading, but the Holy Spirit is ministering through other faithful believers, and you think that organizing the event means that you are the leader. This is untrue. This is when a leader is less spiritually mature, then his right hand man, yet refuses to acknowledge it, and goes to great lengths to point out his flaws knowing that the other is a tender conscience. The faithful brother who has a tender conscience, receives reproof gladly and keeps his humble position, not seeking a leadership role or what others may think of as a glorious position.
5. Lastly it is encouraging everyone to serve in the most humble way, yet never truly serving. This means neglecting to "wash the feet of the saints" (1 Timothy 5:10), this means that this individual thinks they are serving by authoritatively organizing, what he falsely believes to be leading. This is another form a Spiritual Pride.
Now you may be wondering why I am singling out leaders, it is because Spiritual Pride in leadership has the most devastating effects, because it is a cancer that spreads if it is not rebuked.
Revelation 3:19 "Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent."
Psalm 141:5 says "Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. "
Can you take rebuke like King David? Can you handle rebuke the way he does?
Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Proverbs 3:12 for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 15:12 "A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise."
Proverbs 19:25 "Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge."
REPENT
AND GOD WILL BLESS YOU.
Job 5:17 "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty."
